Hands-on BI® is a
joint venture between S&P Solutions, Inc. and The Focus Group.
We are presenting the first of a series of “Hands-On®” Data Warehousing
seminars in Cleveland! No travel, no bright lights or hotel expenses!
Just 3 days of in-depth “Hands-On®” education given by Michael Gonzales
and sponsored by The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI).
TDWI offers this
special series of lab courses with in-depth, hands-on training you won't
find anywhere else. With simulated BI environments and hands-on
exercises, these courses offer real-world learning for industry
professionals who may already know the theory and concepts.
The expert-led
courses in this series will be available at various locations and dates
so you can get the training you need...and get on with your projects.
These are the same courses that are offered at the TDWI Conferences!

discussions and lab exercises that emphasize product features,
functionality, and applicability of products such as: DataStage, SAS,
SyncSort, Oracle’s Warehouse Manager and MS DTS.

Hands-On Data
Mining®: Provides a
non-biased lecture on best-of-class technologies and techniques as well
as exposing participants to leading data mining tools, their use, and
their application.
The course encompasses a
mix of lecture and formal lab exercises. The lecture components include
an overview of data mining, the fundamental uses of the technology, and
how to effectively blend that technology into your overall BI
environment. Through extensive lab exercises, you will gain hands-on
experience with leading data mining tools, including: IBM OLAP Miner ,

Hands-On BI®:
Business Intelligence (BI)
is well beyond the domain of traditional topics such as ETL and OLAP.
This course examines three foremost technologies that impact BI: spatial
data, data mining, metadata, portals, and real-time analytics.
Participants will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience
with the tangible value each technology brings to any warehouse effort.
Tools examined include ESRI’s Spatial Business Analyst, Ascential’s
MetaStage, Arcplan, and Sagent’s Enterprise Information Integrator.
Strategy
Document Workshop: A mix of
lecture and lab is used to expose participants to the core elements
necessary in any data warehouse (DW)/business intelligence (BI) strategy
document. Using the hands-on strategy document service, participants
will create a draft strategy document of about 40 pages customized to
their warehouse/BI initiatives, including figures, tables, and
appendices.
